fit to round up the best of their singles from the last 12
months again with their ever essential roundup for 2008-2009.
The last 12 month schedule has been dominated by the
overbearing presence of Dubstep both old and new, pulling up
many youngsters of the scene with a debut and followup from
Skream fave Kutz Drumz Of No Return, exciting South London
heads like Silkie and Cotti Latest Technology or dubstep
second wavers like Ramadanmans amazing Carla, Kalbatas
cross continental riddims, and Goth Trads ornate Genesis,
next to heavyweight standards from scene leaders Kode 9,
Digital Mystikz and Pinch. Also nestled away in the schedule
were the sort of nuggets Soul Jazz have been picking up on
for years now with the dissident Gatto Fritto remixing
Subways Simplex, Warrior Queen and The Heatwave Crew on the
blazing Things Change, or Matias Aguayos idiomatic Latin
electronics on the 99 Seconds EP. We cant really think of
many other labels that can pump out enough high quality
dancefloor killers to cover 2CDs and one mix CD in the space
of a year, and include everyone from CSS to Secondo on their
tracklisting, can you? Huge comp, huge label, respect!
